I was born to American parents in Guatemala. I was raised there during my formative years, and I spent extensive periods throughout all of Central and North America. My home is now in Memphis, TN. It is a city with a ton of amazing people, countless trees, longstanding and complex problems, and a place of true potential and hope.

Writing has been a constant companion since my early teenage years. It’s a practice that feels intrinsic to my identity. I grew up speaking three languages. Writing feels like a language because it is a mechanism for sharing and understanding thoughts between writer and reader.

I will write whether or not others read my content. That said, more than half of the emotional payoff for me from writing is whether what I wrote does one or both of the following:

- Resonates with another person, even just one, and makes them feel connected, understood, or present at the scene in the life of a stranger. The last of these is found most often in short stories.

- It helps others better understand something. Ideally, it helps others to work more effectively, consider a different approach, or be better leaders. Sometimes it’s just distilling something complex into a context that makes more sense to some.

Thank you for visiting.
